Keep Beauty Real Campaign

When our solicitor Marilyn Krawitz is not attending to clients at CMS Legal Family Lawyers, she is regularly found on the grounds of the University of Notre Dame Australia (Fremantle Campus) as a law lecturer and more often than not, becoming a regular voice to media outlets and publications with her expert research into modern day legal issues.

This week saw Marilyn take to our TV & radio airwaves over the recent new law passed in Israel that creates greater awareness of digitally altered images in the media.

Marilyn is calling on the Australian Government to introduce a similar law in Australia which would require media outlets and advertising agencies to publish a warning if their images have been photoshopped or altered to make the models appear thinner. Models would be required to have a minimum body mass index in order to work in their profession. The law in Israel is designed to combat body image problems among its citizens, particularly teenagers.

You can see Marilyn's interview with Samantha Armytage from Channel 7's Sunrise program below.

Marilyn says: "I am grateful that I am able to research important legal topics that impact upon many Australians. I believe that this research makes me a more knowledgeable lawyer and better able to assist my clients."

Marilyn is currently in the final stages of completing her PhD with Murdoch University where she has researched the effects and impacts of social media upon the courts.
